Levy Launches Two Books !

E-mail Print PDF

Renowned Jamaican community development activist Dr. Horace Levy has not launched one but two books.

The launch took place Thursday April 22 at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus.

One of the books, Killing Streets and Community Revival is authored by Levy, while the other, The African- Caribbean Worldview and the Making of Caribbean Society was edited by him.

Killing Streets and Community Revival is a discussion of garrison communities and politics and the disintegration of community in Jamaica. The book features as well, a set of proposals identifying ways in which the concepts of community and peace-building can be recaptured.

In commenting on both publications, university lecturer Clement Branche noted that both texts should not be seen as mutually exclusive as they speak to the discussion on identity and make a broader call for collaborative work in understanding and building Caribbean communities.

Both books are available at the Kingston Bookshop.
